5 Packing Tips for Business Trips

Knowing how and what to pack is the first battle as far as traveling is concerned. Our Boston coach service is here to bring you a few tips on how to pack smart for your next business trip.

1. Quality is Key

Right off the bat, invest in quality luggage, especially if you are a frequent traveler. It’s much better to invest the money now than to keep having to replace it after every trip because it didn’t hold up.
Look for a suitcase or carry-on with a specific compartment for your laptop. This not only helps keep you organized, but it protects your technology.

2. Pack Smart

A good rule of thumb to avoid over packing is to avoid packing in outfits. You don’t need a different blazer for every day of your trip. Instead, pack clothes that can all be worn together. Try to make sure that everything in you pack can be worn with at least three quarters of everything else in your bag.

3. Dress to Impress

If traveling for business, skip the sweats and flip-flops. You never know who you may run into or how quickly you may need to get to work after leaving the airport. Instead, find some comfortable dress pants and shirt made with wrinkle resistant materials. Avoid white as it shows dirt too easily. Shirts with dark colors and appropriate patterns tend to hold up the best.
If it’s too hot to wear a blazer on the plane, simply carry it over your arm. This way, you’re not only saving some room in your suitcase, you’re also prepared for anything.

4. Leave the Garment Bag at Home

Avoid bringing a garment bag with you if you can. It’s not always necessary and only adds to the amount of items you have to lug through the airport. Instead just pack everything in your suitcase with heavy items, such as shoes, on the bottom, and lighter items on the top. If wrinkles have you worried, call ahead to your hotel to inquire about complimentary pressing.

5. Bring Backup

Don’t forget to pack charges for your electronics and backup storage devices for anything important. It’s best to guarantee that your phone or other devices don’t die when you need them or risk losing important data. Always pack the charger with its device to ensure that they can be easily found.
If traveling overseas, be sure to be aware of the need to wall outlet adaptors. Before you leave, research the specific kind you will need based on your destination and the intended use.

Comfort Take to the Skies

American Airlines recently announced the new upgrades being made to their fleet. Among the upgrades, the best news for business travelers would have to be their new option for lie-flat seats. The new Boeing 777-300ERs boast these new amenities that provide the traveler the option to fully recline during a long coast to coast or international flight in Business or First Class. Another convenience of springing for this new upgrade is the aisle access each seat enjoys. Nothing is more frustrating than a stranger hopping over you ever two hours to use the bathroom when you’re trying to catch some much needed sleep.

All in all, these amenities are just what any business professional needs while traveling. Especially for those times when one must go straight from the airport to a meeting or other business function. American Airlines has made it possible to enjoy some quality rest or a relaxing place to take advantage of the offered wi-fi and put the finishing touches on a report or presentation.

Traveling can be stressful. Especially when you’re also worrying about a hundred little things for that meeting or conference you’ve traveled all night to get to. Take advantage of these new luxuries offered by companies such as American Airlines and give yourself one less thing to worry about.

Here at Boston Corporate Coach we are committed to providing you with fast, convenient, and safe Boston coach services to get our clients where they need to be. 5 Money Saving Tips for Your Next Business Trip

Traveling isn’t always cheap. And when you’re frequently having to jet off somewhere for a meeting or other work related event, it can start to add up pretty quickly.
Here are 5 money saving tips from Boston Coach car services that can hopefully help you save on your next business trip:

1. Knowledge is Power

Luggage fees can be a necessary evil if you are traveling long enough to require a checked bag. However, they can get even worse if you go over weight requirements or need to check multiple pieces of luggage. Usually airlines require your bag to be under 50lbs to avoid any added on fees. Check the rules for luggage that apply with your specific airline so you can pack smarter for your trip. It is also important to weigh your bag before you get to the airport so you don’t have to be the person un-packing and re-packing their luggage in the middle of the check-in line or be forced to pay additional fees.

2. Plan Ahead

It used to be that the later you booked your flight, the better a deal you would get because the airline wanted to fill the plane up as much as possible. This is not the case anymore.
Now, the earlier you book your flight, the better. If you know you’re going to have to fly out to a meeting somewhere in 3 months, do not hesitate to book your flight early. Waiting until the last minute could mean spending over $200 dollars for the same flight you could have booked months ago.=

3. Two (Or Three) in One

With some planning, sometimes it is feasible to get multiple trips out of the way in one fell swoop. If possible, plan multiple meetings in the same area around the same time. You may have a longer trip than originally planned, but you can save a lot by only having to make the flight once.

4. Is Bigger Better?

Depending on the length of your stay, upgrading yourself to a suite with a kitchen can often save you money in the long run. Being able to store and cook your own meals means avoiding the pricey cost of frequently eating out. Not to mention, it’s also a great convenience after a long day of meetings and work.=

5. The Power of Plastic

When traveling overseas, avoid the costly foreign transaction fees that banks will tax on to your statement when using an ATM. To get the best exchange rate, use your credit card when possible. When picking the right one for you, pay attention because some credit cards will have foreign transaction fees of their own. However, not all of them do, so do a little homework to track down the right card for you and your bank account will thank you for it.

Delta Raises the Bar

In an effort to increase traveler satisfaction and comfort, Delta recently added ‘Sky Decks’ to their list of services. Opening first in JFK International Airport and in the international terminal at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the new Sky Decks offer a new take on the typical airline lounge usually found in a windowless room and are situated on the roofs of the airports in the open air. This provides a nice change of pace if a traveler has just spent several hours cooped up in a plane or busy airport terminal.

The new decks consists of living room style seating, inviting greenery and decor, and even convenient power outlets that are great for getting any last minute work done before take-off or during a long layover. The Sky Decks also include occasional stretched out canvas awnings to provide shaded areas to those who don’t want too much sun.

This is a wonderful new service that frequent travelers and businessmen are sure to enjoy. It’s great to see Delta taking an effort to put the comfort of it’s travelers first, much like we here at Boston Coach car services strive for every day. As usual, your comfort and satisfaction is always our priority.

Business Traveling Tips from the Boston Coach Experts

As fun as it can be, sometimes traveling can be confusing, stressful, or just downright exhausting.

Here are a few tips from the Boston coach to make your next business traveling experience go a little bit smoother:

1. Pack Light

This is extremely important for many reasons. For one, the lighter you pack, the less you have to drag through a busy airport on the way to your gate. If at all possible, try to fit everything you need into a small carry-on or backpack. This way you’re not required to check any luggage (saving you time and money) and if it’s small enough, you can store it under your seat. Thus, saving you the hassle of having to wait your turn to get at the overhead compartment.

2. Bare Necessities

If you DO have to check a bag, be sure to pack your carry-on with the essentials: necessary toiletries (don’t bother with shampoo or soap if you are going to a hotel because they will have these for you), medications, change of clothes, and any important documents. This way, if your luggage is accidently lost for whatever reason, you are not without everything.

3. Outsmart Time-Zone Changes

If your travels are taking you into another time-zone, consider adjusting your body to them ahead of time while you are on the plane. This may mean forcing yourself to sleep the whole flight or asking the stewardess for an extra cup of coffee to stay awake. However, you’ll be happy you did if you can avoid the jet lag.

4. Travel Loyally

Often times, airlines will have some form of loyalty program. In the long run, sticking with one airline can save you money down the road and, if you travel a lot, it can help to have an established relationship should you need to request for specific accommodations.

5. Charge On

Many people sometimes forget that, if traveling overseas, that iPhone charger is not going to fit in that European outlet. Before you leave, make sure you purchase the correct wall outlet adaptor for the country you are traveling to. Many can easily be found in major department stores or online.

Although corporate is in our name, we do more than just serve professionals. Whether you need a luxury car to meet you at the airport following a flight, a stretch limousine for a night out on the town, a party bus for prom, or one of our vehicles featuring a mobile office for your professional needs, we will customize our service to accommodate you. Our Boston coach services provide quality transportation to and from any event which includes, but is not limited to, business dinners, conventions, and weddings. We offer a wide range of vehicles in our fleet to choose from, and we are sure to find the perfect fit for your transportation needs. Our luxury fleet includes sedans, limousines, SUVs, mini-buses, vans, and motor coaches.

International Travel Growing

With so many businesses becoming international, travel has become a vital part of the business world.

A report by the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) recently released stated that, companies and individuals will spend over 1 trillion dollars on business trips this year. This is the most ever spent in comparison to previous years and the number is expected to keep going up in the years to come.

Michael W. McCormick, GBTA executive director and COO, was previously quoted stating that, “This report shows that new opportunities are opening up in markets around the world for companies willing to invest in Boston coach business travel to drive growth”.

Boston Corporation Coach seized the opportunity and took it when they purchased a Hong Kong company in July.

By expanding their market globally, Boston Corporation Coach should be able to seize the opportunity to profit from the fact that China is expected to surpass the US in money spent on business travel in 2016.

It is also expected that China will also replace the US as the largest business travel market in the world during that same year.

Avoid Multitasking to Get More Done

In today’s world, it’s a foregone conclusion that everyone multitasks, revelling in their ability to do so. This is especially true of professionals, who rely on their multitasking skills to get through the day. Believe it or not, multitasking is not only bad for your health but, according to research, almost impossible to do well.

Multitaskers share characteristics that include struggles with short- and long-term memory, paying attention, and processing information. While you may believe you’re successfully completing two or more tasks simultaneously, scientists have discovered that you’re actually rapidly switching between them. The end result? Instead of doing one thing well, you’re doing multiple things…poorly.

What can you do to fix this issue?

  1. Stop procrastinating. Tackle either the hardest task first, or the one that will take the most brain power and energy.

  2. Work on projects one at a time. It’s much more difficult to switch between different activities than similar ones. Avoid switching back and forth between writing and spreadsheet calculations, for example.

  3. Delegate. Focus on the projects that you personally need to attend to

  4. Reduce distractions. Turn off the ringer on your phone, only check your email at the top of every hour, and block your calendar so people know not to interrupt you.

  5. Limit social media. If you really need to, schedule a time to check your profiles, but don’t allow yourself to become distracted.

The most important tip is not to multitask while driving. No texting, no phone calls, no last-minute conference calls via your headset. It may feel like your attention is equally divided, but in reality, you’re doing a disservice to each.

Need to continue working even while on the road? Call Boston Corporate Coach and let a Boston coach chauffeur handle the driving while you handle your business from the comfort of the backseat.

Arranging Group Transportation

Planning Boston coach corporate travel for one person is difficult enough, but when several people are traveling together, organizing itineraries can become exponentially more difficult. Consider the following tips to ensure at least the transportation portion of the trip is less stressful.

Do a headcount before making any reservations. You’d be surprised at how often there are last-minute changes simply because someone miscounted or made assumptions on who was and wasn’t coming.

Knowing the number of attendees will also help determine how much space you’ll need to book. Remember, there needs to be room not only for passengers but also their luggage. With a group, a limo service is likely a good option for space; otherwise everyone will be in separate cars and unable to interact.

Traveling executives are probably used to traveling in luxurious sedans while on business trips. If they’re used to that level of comfort, be sure to find a vehicle that offers only the best for both employees and clients alike. Shuttle buses, for example, would have the space you need, but aren’t exactly known for impressing clients or having quality amenities.

Accurate information is vital: you need to provide the proper itinerary to the company you choose, and in turn, you need that company to show up at the agreed-upon times. To keep things running smoothly and avoid potential misunderstandings, it’s a good idea to send and receive final confirmations electronically, so everyone has it in writing.

Choosing the right transportation can make or break your trip. At Boston Corporate Coach, we can help you determine the best choice for your group. Call us at 800-664-4480 to speak with a Boston coach representative and ensure you’re making the right travel accommodations.
